Quail Hunting

Now in its third generation as a privately owned plantation, our 18,000 acre preserve offers some of the finest wing shooting in the south.

Wing shooting club members are treated to unparalleled covey shooting on a myriad of habitat encompassing over 3,500 acres of intensively managed bird woods. Downed birds are collected by some of South Carolina’s finest Boykin Spaniels jettisoning off the hunt wagon. A typical hunt may traverse miles of habitat, depending on the success of the bird dog and the shooter.

The experience at Turkey Hill Plantation is based on a fundamental commitment to covey shooting over bird dogs that are steady to wing and shot. Seasoned, courteous guides carefully plan each hunt, catering to the unique needs of every hunting party.

Upon arrival on the eve of the hunt, guests are greeted by our house staff and treated to the finest southern cuisine. Each day is welcomed by a home cooked breakfast followed by a detailed safety orientation. Weather dependent, a typical hunt begins at 9:00 am, with the guests back at the hill by noon for lunch and a short siesta. Afternoon hunts begin around 2:00 pm and conclude by covey call about 5:00 pm. Hunts are executed utilizing a brace of fine bird dogs with mounted handler and scout, followed by a hunt wagon complete with driver, retriever, and hunters.
